Navratri Festival Celebration in Chhattisgarh: Durga Puja, Chaitra Navratri, Shakti Temple, Temple on Hill


In Chhattisgarh, There are many devotional places, Where Navratri festival is celebrated twice a year. Each time is is celebrated for 9 days.

Chaitra Navratri - Vasanta Navratri - Rama Navratri

This navratri is celebrated from first day of Hindu Lunar Calendar. Which falls from 1 - 9th day of Chaitra Month Shukla Paksha. On 9th Day Navmi, Ram birthday is celebrated so it is also called Rama Navratri.
It falls on Automn, so it is also called Vasanta Navratri. Vasanta means Automn in Hindi.

In 2013 this is falling on 11th April 2013 to 19th April 2013.

Maha Navratri - Sharad Navratri

Maha Navratri is very famous festival all across india. In Chhattisgarh, it is celebrated with same importance. All famous temples are full of people, new trains are scheduled during this season.

In Hindu Calaendar, Maha Navratri is celebrated on 1st to 9th day of Ashwin Month.

Bamleshwari Temple, Dongargarh:



Situated on Hills of Dongargarh, This is most famous place in Chhattisgarh, located in Rajnandgaon District.

Mahamaya Temple, Ratanpur:

Situated in Bilaspur District, is very famous tourist place.

Chandrahansini Mata Temple, Chandrapur:
Situated in Chandrapur City on bank of Raigarh District.

Danteshwari Mata Temple, Dantewada:
This is only shaktipeeth in Chhattisgarh.


It is believed that Mata Sati teeth fell here. So it is named Danteshwari Mata Temple. Locted in Dantewada District

Banjari Mata Temple, Raipur:
Banjari Mandir is very devotional place for capital city Raipur. People go here for anything special in their family.

Ganga Maiya Temple, Jhalmala:



Situated in newly Balod District. There is beatiful picnic place called Siyadevi nearby.

Chandi Mata Temple, Kurud
Situated in Dhamtari District. This place is near to Raipur.

There is beatiful waterfall with mata temple. Situated in Gariaband District, can be reached from Mahasamund of Chhattisgarh.

Maa Mahisha Sur Mardagni Chaiturgarh
Located in Lapha in Korba District 


Jai maa Telin Shakti Mandir, Keshkal
This is situated on beatiful keshkal ghati on NH 43 from Raipur to Jagdalpur in Bastar District.

Total Population of Chhattisgarh is 2,55,40,196. (2.55 Cr) as of 2011 census.
It is ranked 16th in India in order of population.

Males: 1,28,27,915  (1.28 Cr)
Females: 1,27,12,281 (1.27 Cr)

Decadal Population Growth is recorded as 22% from 2001 to 2011. It is 9th from top in decadal population growth in the country.

Population Density is increased from 154 to 189 per square km.

Sex Ratio is recored as 991, better than national average. It's rank is 5th in Sex Ratio, good for the state. Notably the sex ratio is found maximum in tribal districts of Chhattisgarh. Rural Sex Ratio is recored 1002, and urban is 956.

0-6 Age Group Population is found 35,84,028 (35 Lakh). 18,24,987 are male children and 17,59,041 are female children.
Child sex ratio declined from 975 to 964 in a decade.

Literacy rate has increased from 64.66% to 71.04%. Both male and female literacy is increased. Male literacy rate is recorded 81.45% and female rate is 60.59%. It is ranked 27th in literacy in India, this is very bad situation, because of tribal area is less educated.
